Why Now is the Best Time to Become a Plumber
The shortage of plumbers is creating opportunities to succeed in a highly lucrative trade
If you’re looking for a career path that will provide you with the opportunity to make six figures and have a job that will always be in high demand – you should consider becoming a plumber.
The reason why now is the best time to become a plumber is because there is a national shortage of plumbers that will create enormous demand for plumbers and plumbing companies in the coming years.
“Just when you thought the worker shortage couldn’t get any more vexing, be advised that we are running out of plumbers,” Builder Online reports in an article entitled, “Plumbers Expected to Be in High Demand.” “According to the Copper Development Association (CDA), over one-half of America’s trade professionals are near retirement age and only 3 percent of the surveyed 18 to 25-year-olds would consider a career in the trades.”
The shortage is obviously creating employment opportunities that will grow at a much faster rate than other industries.
“At the same time, the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) indicates that employment growth for plumbers, pipefitters, and steamfitters is projected to grow 16 percent from 2016 to 2026 – much faster than the average of all occupations,” Builder Online reports. “Aging infrastructure issues will only make things worse as more things need to be repaired or replaced.”
Plumbing is a Far More Lucrative Career Path Than You May Realize
PBS recently published an article entitled, “Despite Rising Salaries, The Skilled Labor Shortage is Getting Worse,” which interviews several industry professionals who explain that plumbing is one of the most lucrative jobs on the market today.
“I have got plumbers that work for me today that make $200,000-plus a year,” says Vinnie Sposari, owner of a plumbing business in Seattle, Washington, in the article.
The misconception about plumbing is that it is a dirty job and that the industry is filled with unprofessional people. Nothing can be further from the truth.
Plumbing requires a ton of technical expertise, a deep knowledge of science and math, and years of training to attain the highest level of plumbing – a master plumber. Considering that every home and property with running water relies on their plumbing systems working to maintain their quality of life, plumbing is an industry that deserves respect.
Z PLUMBERZ is Challenging the Negative Stereotypes Associated with Plumbers

“The negative perception about plumbers is absolutely wrong,” says Matt O’Rourke, President and Founder of Z PLUMBERZ. “To be a plumber, you have to be highly competent and extremely intelligent. It takes years of training to advance as a plumber and this is reflected in the high salaries that plumbers make. It’s also why Z PLUMBERZ is so committed to challenging these negative stereotypes.”
